UrsA Live

An intimate virtual experience for artists and their fans

Ursa wanted to pivot from their original product - a mobile app that gave fans exclusive access to unique artist content. Their vision for the new product was to connect artists with their fans in engaging, unique ways. For the launch of the platform, Ursa needed to develop a brand that conveyed the immediacy and “real-ness” of the connections between artists and their fans.
 

Our team built, validated and launched Ursa Live. The platform has run 30+ successful events with artists worldwide

RESEARCH

In my role as the research assistant working with the lead UX designer for the project we:

  • analyzed the existing product to find the challenges that kept it from launching like

    • high effort, low return for artists

    • inability to reach high enough volume of fans to earn revenue

    • competition from well-established platforms like Bandcamp, Spotify, Pandora and StageIt.  

  • were able to discover our target audiences for both fans and artists and what their individual needs were.

    • fans desired the ability to connect with their favorite artists in a personal and affordable manner

    • artists desired to earn revenue which had become increasingly difficult during the pandemic as well as

      • gain fan metrics

      • platform/event support

      • have a meaningful interaction with fans. 

  • discovered the best artists to target for this platform were mid-tier and emerging artists primarily in the jazz, country, hip-hop and international genre. 

WIREFRAMES

I created these low-fi wireframes to meet the needs of both Fans and Artists when exploring the website in a consistent format for easy navigation. 

For Fans, the Ursa site required

  • find upcoming show details

  • discover new artists

  • video of the virtual event experience 

  • suggest other artists they would like to see on the platform

For Artists, the Ursa site required

  • value propositions to host events​

  • various event format options

  • contact form to sign up

  • artist page to learn more about them

SOCIAL MEDIA ASSETS

Using the Ursa brand guidelines to set styling parameters, I was able to create social media posts, mainly used for event promotion, that encompassed the whimsy, excitement and versatility of the Ursa brand.

PROMOTIONAL VIDEO CREATION

Using footage from various artists' events, I put together a sizzle reel to allow both artists and fans to get an understanding of what it felt like to be in one of these virtual streaming events.
